Nathan and Alex LOVE their new brother! They want to hold him and kiss him all the time. Hope that love lasts...

Owen was born Friday, September 23rd at 11:45 am. He weighed 8 lb. 8 oz., 21 1/2 in. long. Here is the story: We went into the hospital Friday morning at 6 am to be induced. I got admitted and the Dr. came to break my water. I was dilated to a 4-5. I was positive for group b strep, so after I got antibiotics I started walking around. I walked around for about an hour and a half until about 10 am. Walking, I would have contractions (decent ones) every 5 minutes or so. At around 10:15 or so, I decided to get a bit of pitocin to help things along. After being on pitocin for about 45 minutes, I was having great contractions and told them to stop the pit. I got another dose of penicillin for the GBS, after 35 minutes of hard contractions, I HAD to push, 8 minutes of pushing later, he was here! This is the most natural of all three of my labors. I had NO drugs at all, no epidural, no peri-cervical block like with Alex. It was intense, but fast and it turned out pretty good.

The pediatrician that was on-call had a little mix-up with my antibiotic times and said that Owen would need to stay until Sunday. That made me SUPER emotional and mad, but luckily, my OB doc came to the rescue and cleared things up. John was ready to plead my case after he did a couple hours of research on the whole group b strep issue. We think he's a pretty cute kid even though he got a bit bruised on the way out. So happy to have him in our little family!

I feel like I'm really starting to look large!! If nothing happens by Friday morning, I will be induced (I was dilated to a 3 this past Friday and the dr. said he would basically just break my water and go from there). So, here's to a baby in 4 days!

So, this is me at 33 weeks...now I'm officially 35 weeks and it's starting to get uncomfortable, like peeing twice a night and having a hard time sleeping...you know the awfulness of that. Luckily only 5 more weeks to go (or a little less since I might have to take things into my own hands at some point...again...), and we have tons of stuff going on to make the time fly! Does anyone else hate going through all the clothes you have in storage for your kids? I kind of wish I could afford to buy all new clothes for each kid as they get to the next size...ha!

My sister in law, Christa, took some cute pics of the boys in Easter/Spring attire. It finally feels like spring around here. :) Only took til Mid-May. I think my boys are pretty handsome and cute. They sure can be a handful, but are lots of fun...Then I gave them a haircut, and I took some more today...
And for good measure, a photo of John...he is a part of our family and he thought he was looking pretty good, and I have to agree!

Tada! Here I am 22 weeks pregnant, with another BOY. I don't think I ever thought I would have 3 boys in a row. Pretty crazy. Not sure anyone even looks at this blog since I NEVER update, but I was feeling guilty not having taken even one picture of my pregnant belly this time around. So here I go! I am due Sept. 26th.

We had a great Christmas, we stayed here at home and enjoyed Santa visiting our house. Nathan was surprised that he left a cookie on the plate, so Nathan enjoyed eating that Christmas morning. The kids got spoiled (holy cow Mom and Dad, I think we will restrict presents to one per kid next year!). We didn't get them much but between grandparents and Santa, soo much! They had fun and it was fun watching Nathan be so surprised and having fun.

I can't believe Nathan turned 4! He is getting so old and so fast. He is such a great big brother and loves to play with Alex. He is very independent in lots of things that he does. I love that he can get a drink of water for himself and Alex. Buckle himself in the car, get his shoes on, get dressed...just to name a few. He likes going to preschool and sometimes I can't believe the things that he knows. It makes me laugh when we are talking about something or walking around in the store and he'll say "I saw that on my tv today." He knows how to turn the TV on and during quiet time he will watch "qubo" and sees the infomercials. Just makes me laugh. What a kid! Love him!

With the help of my Mom, I made this cute growth chart. It is a board with 4 sheets of paper Mod podged on, and some vinyl lines/lettering on top. I think it turned out pretty good. Thanks for helping me get started Mom! :) (I really did it all by myself--I just needed some prodding to get started---PROMISE!)

Nathan wanted to be Buzz this year for Halloween, so since I already had cowboy stuff for Alex, he was Woody--not an exact one I know, but it works. I decided to coordinate John and I, so I was Bo Peep and Nathan wanted John to be Rex...however I did NOT want to try to make that, so I bought some army stuff for the Army guy :) We had fun and Nathan was fearless trick or treating. He got out of the car and rang doorbells all by himself while I waited in the car. I was impressed. I got Alex out a few times and he was SO happy to be holding his pumpkin bucket. He did not want to let go. :) He knows the good stuff already--is that bad? He got into his candy before we got home, it was good times!

Nathan: Preschool and Soccer

My little boy is growing up (tear)! Haha, I was talked into doing a co-op preschool with some ladies in my ward, so far so good--it hasn't been at my house yet though! Nathan was a little hesitant to go at first "I won't have any fun at all!" But he has enjoyed it every day.

He started Soccer today, and I was surprised at how well he kicked the ball and ran up and down the field. He even played goalie at one point. He was very hesitant to steal the ball from the other team ( he is very passive, so I guess I can understand), and he freaked out for a minute or two when he fell down and get knee'd in the head. Otherwise, he had a great time and started crying when the game was over because he wanted to play longer! I had to reassure him that he would get to play again, so no biggie!

On another note...yesterday I left Nathan sitting at the table eating a hot dog while I went to take a shower. Alex was already down for a nap, and I do that all the time, so I had no worries. When I got out of the shower, Nathan was NOWHERE to be found. I searched the house twice, the front and back yard twice, and then I really started to panic. I called my sis-in-law (Thanks Xan!) and ran to my neighbors house. My neighbor came over to help me look for him and as we were going through the house again, I moved some pillows that were strewn across my floor (which Nathan had been playing in earlier that day), and saw Nathan's foot sticking out. He had fallen asleep under the pillows while I was still in the shower--WHAT? he rarely takes naps these days-let alone at 12:30. Guess he is worn out from preschool? WOW, I was so relieved. SO scary!

Here is his mass (matted) curls on the back of his head that everyone said I just could never cut! Oops...they were just getting so disgusting...when wet, reminded me of a mullet-yuck!

No curls anymore :( But he looks stinking handsome, and he doesn't have anymore weird 4 inch long pieces of hair on the top of his head :)

We got to ride the pony at my cousin's house. Melisha got us all set up and Alex really liked it. He also loved the chickens-he got pecked (I think) at one point and didn't like them for about 5 seconds. He got over it pretty fast he liked them so much. He also loved their dog. I've decided he is an animal lover. Not good when he has a mom like me...not so much an animal lover. Good thing we have friends with pets/animals right?

It's true, we've been friends since birth...at least since my birth since I'm the youngest :) Jamie got married a couple of weeks ago and Savanna and I were able to be there with her. So good to see her married in the Temple. As friends, we definitely had our rocky times in high school and such, but here we are all grown up and still friends!

We always have so much fun going to see Grandma and Grandpa in Parma--as well as the Aunts and Uncle there too. We went down for a Bridal shower for my friend Jamie (yay, so excited for her!), and then I left the kids there while I went to Girl's camp for a few days and then headed to Provo for the Academy of LDS dentists with John. Had a blast!!

We went camping with John's family the last week in July. I was a bit nutty and took both of my kids by myself for the first few days. Then John came up for the last night. This is my excuse for lack of pictures. :) Alex still wasn't walking so I went and bought an Ergo carrier (the BEST carrier ever-SO worth the $100). He pretty much lived in that those few days, although I did let him get down and dirty a few times.

Alex is OBVIOUSLY having a blast at dinner time :)

We got to float the river which was super fun, a little shallow in places, but still fun. The girls even ditched the kids for a few hours to really relax and enjoy :)

Then of course we had to sit around the campfire and Alex loved sitting in a chair like the rest of us. He sat there so good and was loving every minute of it!
And once again, my lame excuse for not even having a picture of our whole family...I was by myself with my kids. :)

Family Reunion

We went to the Cabin for a Jemmett family reunion. It sure was FUN! This is Nathan the first night. Wiped out already. He had had his surgery the day before, so you can imagine the fun times had by all. He was actually really good- just a little burning every 3-4 hours :(.

The water slide was a BIG hit like always and Aunt Sandra brought squirt guns for all the kids.

Nathan had a blast and loves playing with his cousin Cade (now I'm wondering if it's Kade??) Haha, and they played with army parachute guys the whole weekend too (Nathan's toy of choice post surgery).

And we can't forget Alex. He still was crawling around at that point-but luckily he had lots of aunts/uncles/grandparents to corral him :)

Nathan had a super duper elective surgery the weekend of the 4th of July-lucky kid huh?? He was super cute about blowing up the balloon-although he wanted to take a balloon home with him. Alex had a great 1st birthday. He got to open lots of presents (aka Nathan opened presents) and for some reason he was enthralled with his Grandpa Doug. He wanted to sit on his lap the whole time and kept looking up at him and grinning. It was pretty darn adorable.

The Jack in the box pictured in the background and the book Alex has have both been big hits!

My totally awesome Tiger cake that Alex ripped apart. It took him a few minutes but then he started tearing away. We opened presents before the singing and cake cause I KNEW I wouldn't want to mess with a frosted Alex vs. presents.

And although you can't see it here (cause I think the good pic is on our other camera) Alex was SO messy with orange frosting. YUM!

I spent 17.97! I saved 42.11. 72% savings, not my best but definitely a good one!

Just had to share since I've been doing this for about 8 months and haven't posted about it a single time yet! I had coupons for everything but the bread, and salad. I have had receipts where I have saved up to 95%!!!

Nathan has several forts these days, one on his bottom bunk, one between the couch and the ottoman, and last but not least he has to watch all television in his pillow fort on the couch. AWESOME!

Nathan is always rolling around with Alex and doing crazy stuff. I feel like I'm constantly telling him to be careful with Alex, but I guess they are boys???

First of all, he is everywhere and he can't stay still long enough for me to change his diaper, let alone get him dressed. There are too many fun things to do...like crawl OVER the tractor instead of around it.

He is LOVING real solid food now, like bananas, crackers anything that he can truly bite. His bottom two teeth finally broke through a few days ago.

Once upon a time...

...We thought it was going to be spring, so we started playing outside like it was spring. We had a great time riding bikes, going down the slide in our backyard and just hanging out :)

Then came Easter weekend and it snowed again :) :) (I have to keep smiling or I might get sad)

We sure had fun while the sun was here, going to the park and swinging... it was Alex's first time! He loved it. We're waiting for the sun to come back so we can have some more fun.

Spanish Tortilla and Walking

Here was my attempt to make Spanish tortilla-which is potato and egg with a lot of olive oil. It turned out really yummy and John said it was very authentic. This past Sunday we went on a walk near the lake in CDA. It was a little chilly but nice to get out since it was a sunny day . Both kids love getting outside and even John likes to get out for a nice walk.

Nathan is such a talker lately. He keeps saying the word great, like "That was a great catch Mom." It amazes me all the time how much he knows and understands. He is a great big brother and listens and obeys MOST of the time :). He no longer takes naps which is a bummer but he will go in his room for quiet time for an hour or more every day. He loves playing with "swords" and guns and getting the bad guys. We are excited as the warm weather gets closer since it means we'll be able to go outside more! He loves to play with Alex and he will often say "Come on Alex" and lead him into his room to play.

Alex is a maniac lately(in a good way)! He is crawling all over the place, eating solid food like it's going out of style-along with those puff finger foods, and is just so fun to play with. He babbles a lot and is always saying "ba ba ba." He is such a good baby and with all the dragging around that I do to these kids it's pretty great. I finally found a cup that he will drink out of, so that's a relief and will hopefully make the transition easier in a few months. Alex loves to play with Nathan and Alex will follow Nathan into his room to play. Nathan makes Alex laugh so easily, it's pretty entertaining. :)

Christmas trip 2009

We had a great Christmas this year, we spent it in California with John's family and had a mini family reunion doing all sorts of fun things in LA and San Diego areas. We started it off by going to a Laker game and then we headed to Disneyland for a day. Next we were off to Legoland and that was Christmas Eve. We ate at Benihana Christmas Eve which was VERY untraditional but there were LOTS of people there (lots of happy birthdays being sung-kinda funny). On Christmas day we just kinda hung out at the hotel and swam and then ate our Christmas lunch at Schlotzky's deli and dinner at TGI Fridays. Once again, very untraditional! We went back to Legoland the day after Christmas and then did some shopping that night. The next day was Sunday and we got to go to our old ward in South Pasadena for church, saw a missionary farewell and got to see lots of old friends! We caught up with my friend Stephanie (from nursing school) for lunch and then headed to our hotel near LAX. We left the next day to come back to Idaho. We had a TON of fun and of course made sure we stopped at In-n-Out, and El Pollo Loco. :) More posts to come but don't expect them all in one day!

Nathan LOVES the snow this year...too bad it came and only stayed for 2 days. John is so glad but it makes me sad :( Nathan wants some more snow too so hopefully we get some more before the season is over (I'm sure we will in North Idaho).

At our ward Christmas party, Santa came! Nathan was very excited to see him. He waited so patiently and sat quietly while the other kids around him were going crazy with yelling and jumping up and down. As soon as it was his turn he quickly told him that he wanted race cars for Christmas. What a true boy! :)

John had to work around 8 on Nathan's birthday so we got up about 7 to eat breakfast and open gifts before John had to leave. Pretty good haul for a 3 year old! And that's not all...that night G-ma Sally and G-pa Doug brought over a couple of other presents. He had a blast opening presents. At first he had to open the cards, and then he started to carefully open the other gifts and I told him to just rip the paper! So, after that he started getting a little more rough with the paper.

He requested a train cake again this year, so that was nice since I did it last year! You can see he actually got a train this year to accompany the cake.

Nathan is so fun to have around. He is such a loving big brother to Alex and has been telling him lately that he is his best buddy. He loves playing with cars and trains and we're always playing "get the bad guys." He can make a gun out of anything. It blows my mind the way his imagination works. Sometimes I wonder if I had an imagination at all as a kid! Luckily John is around to help with the imagination part. :)

Halloween

We spent Halloween in South Carolina with Tim and Laisa. Here is John with Alex and Tim with Bree. Alex is a hotdog...and Bree made such a cute little monster!

Nathan had to join the picture. He's a monkey! He did so good trick or treating-he actually said it this year instead of just holding out the bag for candy. He was ringing the doorbell/knocking until he got majorly scared at one house--this kid dressed up as "the reaper" with the mask on came out from behind some bushes looking pretty scary with a bowl of candy. Nathan freaked out and ran away to hide behind Tim. The scary kid startled us all but it was pretty funny to see Nathan freak out. He wouldn't go up to any doors by himself after that!

Alex did not like the hot dog costume. It was probably a little warm for SC.

Nathan fell asleep on our way back to the hotel after trick or treating. He has his bag of candy in his lap.

We went out to an Apple Orchard (in North Carolina) with Laisa the day before the race.

The goats did lick Nathan's hand when he fed them, he thought it was pretty gross!

We ate at Sticky Fingers in downtown Greenville, YUMMY! This was my yummy meal after the race and a couple hours of rest.

Half Marathon :)

Just minutes before the race started with Laisa and her brother Andy. I only ran with them for the first 10 minutes or so and then I took my slower pace. :) I ran it in about 2 hours and 38 minutes. I would have liked to have run the entire way, but I started walking the uphills since there were so MANY! I finished it though and I wasn't last...that was my main goal.

I was so hungry I grabbed food and water before I even met up with anyone...I think I might have even had food in my mouth when this picture was taken :) At this point, it felt better to jog or sit than to just walk or stand. WEIRD. I'm not really sure how people run Marathons or complete the Ironman competitions. It's crazy!

John got this picture of me just as I'm getting near the finish line. YAY! Overall it was a good experience, though I'm not sure I'll do it again yet...

I didn't wake up last night to Alex crying...but I think he must have for at least a little bit to kick out of his blanket. I'm going to count that as sleeping through the night. This is how I found him (still asleep) at 7:30 this morning.

Here is Alex at his 2 month check-up today. He weighed in at 11 lbs 14 oz, and was 23 inches long. He's getting bigger all the time!

I can't believe how fast the time has gone! It is crazy! We've had so much fun in those five years and it's great to have school behind us and two great boys added to our family.

Here is a picture of us from this past weekend. We went to Provo for an Academy of LDS Dentists meeting at BYU. The dentists get some CE taken care of and the wives get to go to some fun/spiritual classes during the same time. PLUS, we got all sorts of yummy BYU catering food, as well as all the Chocolate milk and even some ice cream from the BYU creamery. Well worth the trip! :) We took Alex with us and although he was pretty darn good during the day, he had a couple bad random nights while we were there. It was a fun little weekend trip to take on our Anniversary. We went and saw Music and the Spoken Word Sunday morning before we flew back to Spokane.

Nathan loves to play in the sand (even though it is a bit rocky!) And, sad for me I still can't go swimming until after the OB doc clears me...My appt is August 11th, it won't be here soon enough!

Somebody got this cute little swimsuit for Alex...newborn size and I wondered if he'd ever wear it. Well, he won't wear it to go swimming, but it's a perfect outfit for a hot day at the beach in Coeur d'Alene. :)

Yep, we blessed him already! John's brother was in town for the holiday weekend and so we took advantage of them being here, along with my family being here and blessed Alex. It was a bit interesting staying up late for fireworks and then being at church by 8:30...along with getting up to feed Alex in the middle of the night. Oh well, it was good and now I won't be going back to church for a few weeks! :)

Alex was born at 3:52 am Sunday June 28th. He was 7 lbs. 8 oz. 21.5 in long. I drank castor oil Saturday morning and started having random contractions around 2 pm. We went on several walks and by 10 that night I was having very consistent contractions. We went to the hospital at about 1 am and I was 7-8 cm dilated. My water started "leaking" after the nurse "accidentally" broke the bag. By 3:20 I started to push. I didn't have an epidural again, but I did however get a peri-cervical block and a dose of fentanyl. The peri-cervical block was AMAZING! Too bad they don't teach them in med school anymore...It's basically a numbing shot they give in the cervix to take the edge off the contractions. Anyway, it was great. Enjoy the pictures!

Nathan wanted his picture taken the other day while he was getting ready to take a bath, so this is that picture. For the last several days, he has been "a big boy"and has been going pee on the potty. I don't know what brought it on, but all of a sudden he just wanted to pee on the potty and he will tell me before he has to go. I have been telling him all the time that big boys go on the potty, so I guess he decided he wanted to finally be a big boy? He still won't go poo and he wakes up in the morning wet, but otherwise he's doing great.

More belly pics...I went to the doctor on Friday and was dilated to 2 cm and 80% effaced. Yahoo! Hopefully this will all be over soon...although I have mixed feelings about that too because then that just means I have to be sleep deprived for awhile...oh well! My next post will probably be of the brand new kiddo, so stay posted!

A couple of weeks ago, I was making cookies and Nathan was helping to unwrap the chocolate kisses to go on top. He started singing these random parts of songs, namely part of the ABC song and part of the Ladybug song. I don't know why, but he kept singing "7,8,9" of the ladybug song over and over. I just thought it was funny! And, the other funny thing about his unwrapping the kisses was he was lining them up and would get upset if I touched them or moved them at all.

It's only 80 degrees, but it feels SO HOT! We went and bought this at Target today so we could play in the water, and even though the water was freezing, Nathan had a blast and he can't wait to play in it again tomorrow! We have to take advantage of every nice day around here and it's supposed to be nice most of the week. Yea!

We have been so busy! We have moved our guest bedroom downstairs and set up Nathan's new bunk bed in the old guest room. He has Thomas the train bedding and he's doing great in his new room. He has already figured out that the crib is where the baby in Mommy's tummy will sleep. He is excited about the baby. I just hope it's not too difficult of a transition when he actually arrives!

John took Nathan on the ward Father and Son's campout last Friday and Saturday. They had fun! Nathan loved the tent and "hiding" in it. He wouldn't get in the sleeping bag but just slept on top with his blanket. I was worried he would wake up and not go back to sleep or something, but John said he slept great. John was a bit uncomfy on the ground though! :) Oh well! I think they had a fun bonding time.

We decided to go to Parma for Mother's Day and surprise the whole family! We left a couple of hours after John and Nathan got back from camping. It had been my job to get the gift for Mom, and I told them I would mail it...well it hadn't gotten there and they were kinda sad and my Dad was scrambling for a gift...but then we showed up! We had brought the gift with us, so it was all good! We had a fun weekend with them.

I am now 33 1/2 weeks pregnant. You can kinda see my belly in the above pic, and I will post another picture as soon as I can look halfway decent and get John to take the picture. :)

Spain!

So we decided on a whim to go to Spain! We found cheap tickets online and two weeks after we bought them, we left! My sister-in-law watched Nathan for a week (so nice of her!) and then my parents watched him for a week. He couldn't believe it was really us when we got him back. He kept touching our faces to make sure we were real. We had a great time in Spain! We started off in Madrid and stayed a night at the temple apartments. We did two sessions in the temple which was cool, I had to go through one time in Spanish! CRAZY!

We headed to Southern Spain next (Almeria) and spent a couple of days there with John's mission companion. They have an adorable little girl and we had fun playing with her and visiting with them.

After that, we headed up to the Northern part of Spain which is where John served. We started in Vitoria first. We walked around a TON there and got to visit with a lot of people that John knew when he was a missionary there.

Just a random pretty picture in Vitoria. We went to church in Vitoria on the Sunday that we were there. It was fast and testimony meeting which made things extra interesting since I couldn't even really pick out a topic. I was wiped out from all the walking around we were doing and I took a couple little naps through church..whoops! The people were all really nice though!

This sign is in Basque. The main Basque population lives in the Northeast corner of Spain. This picture was taken in Bilbao. We also stopped to take some pictures of the Guggenheim and saw another member of the church there.

We stopped in Gijon last. We visited with a lot more people that John knew there and did a little bit of shopping too. Also a lot of walking around. While walking around we stopped and got a little treat: Chocolate con churros...so delicious! It's basically melted chocolate with a little bit of milk mixed in to thin it just a bit--and then you dip the churros in the chocolate. YUM!

After that we headed back to Madrid to catch our flight home! We mostly stayed with people that John knew while we were there and they were all so nice! If they didn't have an extra bed for us, they gave us their bed and wouldn't let us pay for anything. We're hoping they can come visit us so we can return the favor!

A few random things about what I thought of the place...
1. They have weird pillows! They are really skinny and long and the pillowcases are open ended on both ends...I went to put a pillowcase on and just about lost the pillow out the other end!
2. They like pig...not pork...pig. You'll see a picture in the slideshow that has me surrounded with cured pig legs. They don't wrap them in saran wrap or anything...odd. I wasn't a very big fan of that.
3. They really like potatoes-which I very much appreciated! We ate lots of fried potatoes and we had spanish tortilla a couple of times-YUM! Spanish tortilla is fried potatoes cooked with egg, kind of like an omelet.
4. They like 3 course meals. Their big meal is at lunch, and they always have some sort of dessert with lunch and dinner. One of their desserts is yogurt-we had lots of yogurt while we were there.
5. Public transportation was lovely. We took trains and buses to get from place to place. It was so much more relaxing than if we had rented a car--WAY cheaper too!

Just a few pictures from what we've been up to lately. Nathan was being cute in the bath the other day and wanted to wear his bucket as a hat. I just love his smile in the picture!

John and I went to his IV sedation course in Portland a week or so ago, and these are just a few pictures of him working after he got his IV's started. He did great starting IV's and we'll go back in a couple of weeks for another busy weekend. I went along to kinda help with the assistants with the medications. I'm glad I went and was able to help.

We stopped at Multnomah Falls on our way back from Portland, it was really cold when we were there, but I definitely want to go back and hike up closer someday. It was beautiful!

Spring?

I am officially scared to say the word spring. I am afraid it will drive away the slightly warmer temperatures and bring back the snow. Yesterday it was a nice day...ya know low 40's! :) We played outside for a couple of hours, Nathan riding his tricycle that he got for Christmas, playing with the sidewalk chalk and playing in the melting snow. Nathan was also able to go down his slide again, nevermind the pile of snow at the bottom that he landed in every time! It was nice to see the sun! Fast forward to this morning and we woke up to snow on the ground and still snowing. Luckily it all melted today! We can see parts of our grass and it seems like more snow melts away every day. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is a trend I will keep seeing :)

Grandma took him on a picture taking adventure...this is just one of many! I love his hands in his pockets...supposedly he did that on his own!

This was taken right before they left to come to the airport to get me. He took his little backpack on wheels for the trip and he just looks so cute strolling it along behind him! He is dressed in Boise State garb (thanks to Gma and Gpa). Go Broncos! I was so excited to see him at the airport Saturday morning, I didn't realize how much I had really missed him until then. I had to swallow back my tears! :) He was really happy to see me too and that was nice because when we were gone I tried to talk to him on the phone and he refused. He told my dad, "No talk Mommy!"

........nother boy!!!!! I am now almost 21 weeks pregnant and we found out yesterday that it's a boy! We also found out that everything looks good and healthy! I am feeling great and trying to get to the gym at least twice a week which has helped me to not gain as much weight in the beginning...hopefully I don't make it to 43 lbs. this time. :) I am due June 29th/30th, so we should be getting into summer by then!

We built a snowman one day when it snowed just a couple of inches...it was perfect snow for it, but he melted in just a few days.

I know that isn't really a word, but I like it. Just a couple of things that Nathan has done recently that I thought were cute/funny.

I was in the grocery store in the produce section getting some apples, Nathan was sitting in the cart and we passed the Dates. Nathan says "DATES!" He was so excited to see them. Now, I had never really had a date until my Mother-in-law gave me one to try, but Nathan had spent the weekend at her house and she got him hooked on dates! Now he absolutely LOVES them. He pretty much will eat them like candy.

Nathan had a balloon from Red Robin and he didn't want it tied on his wrist. I told he better not let go or it would go up in our high ceiling and I wouldn't be able to get it for him. Of course, we get home and he lets go. He turns to John and says "Daddy get." John says "It's too high, I can't reach it." So Nathan runs and gets his stool, comes back and says "Ne-ne get!" (He calls himself Ne-Ne) It was really hilarious cause he actually stood on his stool and reached up for the balloon. He has been turning on and off lights and getting things off the counter with his stool. He loves the extra independence he gets with it!

My parents gave Nathan a Boise State football jersey this past fall, and he really didn't think anything of it then. But, I pulled it out of his drawer last week and right away he knew it was from Nana and Poppa. Then he wanted to wear it two days in a row. After I washed it and was folding it, he came up and said "Football!" and grabbed the jersey and wanted to put it on again.

Snowblower

Well we finally got a snowblower a couple of weeks ago that we ordered from Amazon...after I had checked at all the area stores and they basically told me they were completely out and could not order anymore. Haha, well before we even got ours shipped to our house, we had to go to Lowes for some supplies and sure enough...what is sitting outside the store....snowblowers! I pretty much wanted to scream...cause we ended up paying a bit more to order one online...ANYWAYS, i used it today and it was great! So much better than shoveling. Yea for snowblowers!

Well, it's only a little over a month past Christmas and finally I will post some Christmas pictures! We had such a fun Christmas with both of our families. We opened gifts with the Pulsipher's a few days before Christmas before we left to go to Parma.

We had fun in Parma. We went caroling on Christmas Eve which is the family tradition. My mom had to work Christmas Day so we got up a little earlier than we would have to open up presents. The rest of the day was spent relaxing, Nathan playing with toys, and EATING! We did a little bit of shopping the day after Christmas, and the rest of our time was spent visiting family and friends. We had a blast seeing everyone!

We had to wake Nathan up to open presents. He was a bit confused at first!

So it has been snowing since yesterday morning here, and it has gotten amazingly deep, really fast. I haven't seen this much snow since I think I was in 3rd grade. I shoveled our driveway out yesterday morning a little bit after 9...there was about 6 inches or so when I did it. Well, it continued to snow, and this is what we found in the morning...

John managed to get out of the house with the help of one of his assistants and her SUV. They went to do a crown on a patient. Dedication! Our camry wouldn't have made it on the roads with 2-3 feet of snow! We are just enjoying being inside with each other, wrapping presents, playing in the snow and eating...you all know how I love the last one...:)

Thankfully we have a super nice neighbor who used his snowblower to clear our driveway for us. John started shoveling it this morning...what a joke! Then our neighbor came to help. We looked into getting a snowblower a month or so ago and I decided it was too expensive...after this storm I decided it is well worth the money--even if it only snows like this once a year!

Just a few pictures from Nathan's party and his wonderful train cake that I made! Haha! I think it turned out pretty good. :) I can't believe that he is 2 now! He is such a good little boy most of the time...and then he becomes very opinionated and independent and throws tantrums--especially when it's time to get out of the bath or get dressed/put his shoes/coat on! Oh well, we love him and he is just getting so big and he's talking so much more. He loves to run and jump and do all those fun boy things. He loves the new toys he got including a basketball hoop, a tool bench with all the tools and a farm set with animals, tractors and implements. We love you Nathan! Happy Birthday!

It's so funny to me to see some people's blogs who are bundling up for like 50 degree weather--not saying that I haven't done it before myself, BUT when you have 9 degree weather with the windchill factor making it feel like -15 degrees, it kind of changes your perspective on bundling up! :) It has been so cold this past weekend, and it will stay really cold until who knows when. Next week is supposed to be back up in the 30's, so we'll see. One large plus to the cold weather is that it snowed, and has stuck for several days!! Yahoo!! I haven't convinced Nathan to go play in it yet-- the first day when it was still in the 20's with no wind, he just wouldn't put his boots on. Now I don't want to go outside cause of the wind!

We celebrated Nathan's birthday last night, and I will post pics and give more info on that tomorrow when it is his actual birthday!

For anyone who even cares...we are still alive. I have just been amazingly lazy and busy with all the holiday stuff. :) I did see Twilight with my sis-in-law xan and her sister, and also another sis-in-law and my mother-in-law. We had fun, and although the movie was a bit corny/cheesy, I liked it!

We had a little visit from my brother and sister-- Jarom and Megan-- and Nathan has been saying their names daily ever since.

Thanksgiving was fun, and I ate too many rolls and stuffing. I am not that big of a fan of turkey, but the rolls...:) We got snow here on the day after Thanksgiving and that is when we also put our tree up! YAY! I love Christmas trees and all the decorations at this time of year. Nathan will be two on the 17th, and he is definitely beginning the terrible two stage. He throws so many fits it's amazing, but with a few time-outs every day we manage. The worst is getting him to change out of his pajama's into his clothes and then getting out of the bathtub to put his pajama's on at night. He is talking so much more and will string two or three words together at a time now. I love him so much and just think he's adorable!

For my birthday we went out to Mexican food and then Mark and Xan came over to help John sing. John got me a Marionberry pie...yum! He also got me a KitchenAid Mixer and he surprised me with tickets to a Sarah Bareilles Concert at The Knitting Factory. We had a great time at the Concert, she sounded GREAT live.

We had a great time in Salt Lake with my family! We celebrated Megan and Jarom's birthday's and just had fun hanging out. Nathan liked the plane ride, it was fun cause he could say plane this time around (sounds like pane)!

Pumpkin Cookie Recipe

I made these cookies the other day, and a friend wanted me to post this recipe. Maybe somebody else will love it too! Here it is:

1 1/2 C. pumpkin
1/4 C. water
2 C. brown sugar
1 C. oil
1 tsp. vanilla
4 C. flour
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 C. choc. chips

Mix together first 4 ingredients. Mix together dry ingredients and stir in, add choc chips last. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake @ 350 for about 10 min.

As I was reading blogs this morning, I noticed a recurring theme...most people are still wearing shorts! It has gotten a bit chilly here lately, highs in the 60's, 70's if we're lucky. Now, I'm not saying this is really cold, but it has warranted pants and jackets. It's not even October yet! I am excited to be pulling out my cute winter clothes that haven't had much use in the past few years, but I am also beginning to wonder how long I'm going to have to wear them! I am a little sad that I can't wear shorts and sandals anymore, but I am also loving the fact that I can curl up on the sofa in front of the fireplace with some hot cocoa! :)

He Survived!

This is Nathan and his cousin Ayden one day while I worked. My sister-in-law Xan watched him for a few days and my mother-in-law Sally watched him for a couple of other days. It would take him some time to warm back up to me. I think he was trying to decide if he was going to forgive me or not, and if I was going to be leaving him again. I finished almost two weeks ago, so it's nice to be back at home again. He had lots of fun playing with Ayden, Xan and Sally.

On another note, it has been pretty nice weather until yesterday. We woke up to rain this morning, hopefully it doesn't rain too much!

A Fairly Close Call

We live just south of the Coeur d'Alene, ID, airport. It hasn't been too bad because mostly small private planes and jets fly in and out of there. (Spokane International Airport is a 30-40 minute drive from here). This morning as a plane flew overhead I thought, "A plane could totally crash into our house!" So, on Tuesday, I started my 80-hour preceptorship at the hospital here in Coeur d'Alene. I am doing this to get my Idaho RN license. I was amazingly emotional after leaving Nathan that whole day. I had to be there again on Wednesday, and by Thursday morning, Nathan was quite mad at me. It made me feel terrible! So, I have 4 more full 12 hour days, and one 8 hour day. Wish me luck!

My Garden

Since it's the first year that we have had a garden, I am pretty darn proud of what has come out of it. We started reaping the benefits with zuchinni and some peas a few weeks ago. We got our first tomatoes earlier this week. As you can see from the pictures, we have some pumpkins growing, I probably have about 10-15 right now. I am excited to see how many we'll get and how big they will be. Stay tuned!
